Homemade hair masks make hair healthy, nourished, hydrated and shiny, because homemade hair masks use natural ingredients that have a beneficial effect on the hair root and structure, saturating it with vitamins.

Homemade hair masks need to be done in a course: 2 times a week for a month, then a month break, if the situation has stabilized during this time (hair loss has decreased, falls out within normal limits), then you can also do it once a week to maintain the effect or completely repeat the course.

Homemade masks are a great help in the comprehensive fight against hair loss. They have been used since ancient times in the Slavic people, and to this day, homemade masks successfully preserve the thickness of women's hair.

Top 10 masks for hair loss

Homemade masks for hair loss

1. Mask with tincture of red pepper

Capsaicin, which is found in pepper, irritates the nerve endings of the skin, which accompanies the rush of blood to the hair roots. Due to this, all nutrients from the blood are supplied to the hair in an enhanced mode, which is the reason for the acceleration of hair growth and their strengthening. Therefore, you need to eat right when doing a course of masks. Tincture of red capsicum is most often chosen by men for the treatment of hair loss.

  • 2 tablespoons of pepper tincture;
  • 1 tablespoon castor oil or mustard oil
  • 5 drops of bey essential oil.

The mask is applied to dry hair before washing. Heat castor oil in a water bath, add pepper tincture and essential oil to it. Apply the mask to the scalp along the partings (try not to get the mask on the length of the hair, the tincture dries the hair very much), insulate and leave for 40 minutes to 1 hour. The mask should warm and tingle. If you have dry hair, you can apply your favorite base oil to the ends. Rinse off the mask with warm (not hot water) with shampoo, it is good if it is an alkaline shampoo (for deep cleaning) to wash the castor oil from the hair and after such a shampoo, you need to apply the mask for a length (hold it for not 10 minutes as recommended by the manufacturer, and 30 minutes).

Be careful, because you can dry out the scalp (itching or even dandruff will appear), a sufficient course for 1 month, doing 2 times a week, and then you need to take a break for a month and if necessary, you can continue to do the mask once every 7-10 days.

2. Onion hair mask (recipe 1)

The content of phytoncides in onions has a beneficial effect on the hair roots and scalp, and sulfur and phosphorus are vital constituents of the hair substance, which are necessary for the life of hair. Onion masks reduce hair loss and stimulate hair growth.

  • juice of one onion;
  • 1 teaspoon pepper tincture;
  • 1 teaspoon of burdock or olive oil (add if it dries the scalp without oil);
  • 5 drops of lemon or orange essential oil, mint (reduces onion odor).

The mask is done before washing the hair, mix all the ingredients, and apply to the scalp along the partings. The mask needs to be insulated and held from 40 minutes to 1 hour, it can be longer if you have time. After washing the hair with shampoo (warm, but not hot water), apply a balm or mask, and be sure to rinse the hair with water with the addition of lemon juice, it will reduce the smell of onions (1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice per 1 liter of water or vinegar, plus more hair will shine). The mask is done 2-3 times a week, with a course of at least 1 month. Do not apply the mask to the length of your hair!

You can also add to the mask 1 teaspoon brandy, it will reduce the smell of onions. A mask for the “brave”, because the smell of onion cannot be completely removed, it can only be reduced. If the hair is dry, there is practically no smell, but if the hair is even a little bit damp (physical activity or was exposed to rain), the aroma of onions will be on the whole room. Even if you have completed the entire course of the onion mask, the smell on your hair remains for another month. But many girls say that the result is worth it:

After an onion mask, hair stops falling out 80% less! I couldn't believe my eyes when, after the first (!) Use of the onion, I pulled out not a lump of hair from the plum, but much, much less ... Now I consider it a panacea. I plan to repeat the course closer to autumn.

Yes, the agent is "thermonuclear", my friend grew a braid like that, she was thick, beautiful. But everyone shied away from her, she smelled like the onion itself.

3. Onion mask (recipe 2)

One of the best masks for hair loss, tested by time and generations:

  • 1 tablespoon of onion juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon of brandy;
  • 1 teaspoon of castor or sea buckthorn oil;
  • 1 yolk.

We mix all the components, a fairly liquid consistency is obtained (it is best to apply with a brush to apply paint). The mask is applied to the scalp, insulated with plastic wrap or a shower cap and a warm hat should be put on top. Leave the mask for 1 hour and wash off with shampoo (twice), apply balm, and at the end rinse with water acidified with vinegar or lemon.

4. Vitamin mask to strengthen hair

Hair after this mask is immediately transformed, becomes soft, manageable, silky and hair loss is significantly reduced.

  • 2 tablespoons of natural hair balm;
  • 1 ampoule of niacin;
  • 1 ampoule of aloe extract;
  • 1 ampoule of vitamin B12;
  • 1 ampoule of vitamin B1;
  • 3-5 drops of vitamin A and E in oil.

We wash my head with a gentle shampoo (without sulfates and silicones), it is better to take a neutral one, for sensitive scalp. Dry your hair with a towel for a few minutes. We mix all the ingredients of the mask and apply first to the scalp, and then distribute to wet hair along the entire length, we insulate it, you can also warm it up with a hairdryer for the best effect. We keep the mask for one hour and wash it off with shampoo, it is enough to do it once a week.

For a full course of hair restoration and strengthening, 10 procedures are enough. The first 5 masks are done once a week and 5 more masks are done every two weeks.

Vitamin mask (No. 4) can be alternated with a mask of red pepper tincture (No. 1), after a month of using the course of these masks, the result will exceed all your expectations: the hair will strengthen from roots to ends, acquire softness, obedience, shine and, most importantly, you will see a new undercoat of hair all over the head (a familiar girl fights with these masks with diffuse alopecia, of course, in combination with other means, but these masks were recommended to her by the trichologist, and her results are inspiring).

5. Mask with Dimexide and sea buckthorn oil

Dimexide is a drug (you can buy it at a pharmacy for a symbolic price), which accelerates wound healing, it is widely used in burn practice. Dimexide affects cell membranes, under its influence they become more permeable, so the drug (in our case, sea buckthorn oil) penetrates into the body faster. In hair masks, this drug is used precisely because of this property, a hair mask with Dimexide will work much faster than the same mask without it.

Sea buckthorn oil is considered one of the best oils to fight hair loss, even with alopecia. Sea buckthorn oil contains a lot of vitamin A, which accelerates the regeneration of skin cells and accelerates hair growth (vitamin C content), as well as makes hair soft and elastic. Thanks to Dimexide, the oil penetrates into the hair roots and nourishes them with its beneficial substances.

  • 2 tablespoons of sea buckthorn oil;
  • 1 teaspoon of Dimexide.

We mix the oil with Dimexide and apply it to the scalp, insulate it and leave the mask for one hour, you can apply your favorite base oil to the ends of the hair. We wash off the mask with shampoo, sea buckthorn oil is heavy and does not wash off the hair well, at the end you can rinse with acidified water (vinegar, lemon: 2 tablespoons per liter of water). We make the mask for a month, and then take a break for a month.

With regular use of this mask, the hair not only stops falling out, but also becomes more compacted, thicker, and the hair structure is restored.

6. Mask with Dimexide and vitamins

  • half a teaspoon of Dimexide;
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon castor oil
  • 3-5 drops of vitamin A and E in oil;
  • 5 drops of bey essential oil or any other.

We heat the base oils and add the rest of the ingredients, apply to the scalp and insulate. We keep the mask for 1 hour and wash off with shampoo.

Dimexide can be added to almost any hair mask, but be careful because it is a drug and can cause allergies.

7. Mask for intense hair loss

The mask is suitable for all hair types and is applied before shampooing. With regular use of this mask, the hair is visibly strengthened, it becomes strong and healthy.

  • 1/4 black bread;
  • water, you can use herbal infusion instead of water: chamomile, calamus, hop cones, nettle;
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 ampoule of calcium chloride.

The mask is done before washing your hair. We crush the bread into a saucepan (without a crust), fill it with water (to cover the bread) and put on fire. It is necessary to boil a little, then add salt, mustard (mix all the time), the consistency should be like a paste. Then we remove from the heat, let it cool a little, add an ampoule of calcium chloride and apply it to the scalp with light massage movements. We wrap our heads with plastic wrap and put on a warm hat or towel, walk with a mask for 2-3 hours, the more the better, the further I wash my head as usual.

The mask needs to be done in a course - 10 days - every day (if every day does not work out, then it can be done every other day, but not less often). Then the mask can be done before washing your hair 2-3 times a week, for another month. By the half of the course, you will see a reduction in hair loss, and by the end of the course, the hair will become stronger and will stop falling out.

8. Mustard mask for hair loss

Mustard is one of the most popular ingredients in homemade masks for strengthening and growing hair. The substances that make up mustard cause blood flow to the hair roots, preventing hair loss and enhancing hair growth.

  • 2 tablespoons of dry mustard;
  • 2 tablespoons of water;
  • 2 tablespoons of jojoba or avocado oil
  • 3-5 drops of vitamin A and E in oil;
  • 1 yolk.

We make a mask before washing your hair. Dilute the mustard with warm water, add the yolk and oil. Apply the mixture to the scalp without touching the length. It is advisable to insulate, you can also warm it up with a hairdryer. We keep the mask for 30 minutes to 1 hour and rinse thoroughly with shampoo. It is enough to do the mask once a week, with a course of two months.

9. Tincture of calamus root from hair loss

Calamus root is sold in any pharmacy for a small price. The active substances contained in the calamus root are able to penetrate deep enough into the hair and subcutaneous layers, despite the fact that the hair is clean or dirty. This plant is recommended by trichologists for complex therapy for various types of alopecia (hair loss).

  • 4 tablespoons of calamus root;
  • 0.5 liters of vinegar 9%.

Pour vinegar into a saucepan and add calamus root, set on fire. The mixture should be brought to a boil and cooked over low heat for another 15 minutes. When the tincture has cooled, strain it into a container from a darkened glass and store in the refrigerator.

The tincture should be applied to the scalp with massage movements 2-3 times a week. You can rub it in before washing your hair for three to four hours or leave it overnight if you wash your hair in the morning.

10. White clay mask

White clay in its composition contains mineral salts, calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium and other beneficial substances that have a beneficial effect on the hair and scalp. Clay strengthens hair, reduces hair loss and accelerates hair growth, and can also help get rid of dandruff and oily hair.

  • 1 tablespoon of white clay;
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 yolk;
  • 5-8 drops of bay oil essential oil (rosemary, ylang-ylang, tea tree, pine, cinnamon, these are excellent essential oils for hair loss).

Clay must be diluted with water, add the yolk; drip essential oil onto honey and add to the rest of the mixture. Apply the mask to the scalp along the partings, insulate for 20-30 minutes, then wash your hair as usual with the obligatory use of a balm or mask. It is enough to do the mask once a week so as not to dry out the scalp.

Homemade hair masks have a wide field of activity, you can make, replace, change the compositions of the masks depending on the characteristics of your hair.

  1. Lenusya

    Every year, with the onset of spring, my hair begins to fall out. And even special shampoos do not help. that is why I make masks that strengthen the hair follicles and make the hair stronger and shinier. If not for these masks, most likely I would go with thin hair, and a large pile of hair remained on the comb every time. Although I use these masks not only in the spring, but also at other times of the year. All the same, I want the hair to always be beautiful and thick and not remain on the clothes. Otherwise it doesn't look very good.

  2. Svetlana

    Hair loss has recently become quite normal for me, and since I did not want my hair to become thin. and I didn’t like that they were on clothes all the time, I decided to fix the problem somehow. I thought that I should start with masks, because they will allow the hair to become stronger. I used masks with tincture of red pepper and honey masks. There was no disappointment. My hair got much stronger and stopped falling out. And the appearance of the hair has become much better. Vitality appeared in them. They finally began to shine with me.

    • Yuliya

      Yes, masks with red pepper tincture are one of the best masks for hair loss and for stimulating hair growth, and the tincture can be diluted with both oil (if dry, sensitive scalp) and water if the scalp is oily.

  3. Kate

    Julia, here I often meet different combinations of B vitamins, but in the comments you write that not all of them are combined, and that the best combination of B12 with B6. And in the mask there is a combination of B12 with B1. How is it more correct though? thanks

    • Yuliya

      You can combine B6 with B12, these are the best vitamins for hair loss. And B1 is better to get inside the body, it regulates the work of the nervous system (first of all). But, many add vitamins B1, B6, B12 to masks and say that they like the result.

  4. Tanya

    Hair loss is possible with diabetes, they write to add honey to the mask, but not for diabetics

  5. Tatiana

    Collect a liter jar of onion skins, but not very tightly, add 1 pack of cloves and pour in vodka as much as it will take. Leave for 2 weeks. I added more garlic husks. Strengthens, dandruff disappears, growth is crazy. Turn it over.

    • Yuliya

      Thanks for sharing. Have you rubbed this mixture into the scalp before washing or after?

  6. Olga

    And if the roots are greasy and the ends are dry? Any will fit

    • Yuliya

      You apply masks for hair loss only on the scalp, and do not affect the length.
      You can apply the base oil on the length: olive, avocado, hemp, jojoba, shea butter, these oils nourish and moisturize the length of the hair well.
