Coconut oil. Properties and how to apply to hair

Coconut oil is recognized as one of the best natural oils for hair and one of the few that penetrates the hair structure. Also, coconut oil is a natural source of skin nutrition, it has the property of protecting the skin from ultraviolet radiation, a natural sunscreen that is suitable even for young children (by the way, after applying it, the tan lays down evenly and beautifully, the oil also prevents dryness and irritation of the skin after sunburn, I highly recommend trying before going to the beach). And of course, coconut oil is used in the food industry. In general, the spheres of application of coconut oil are very multifaceted, but we are more interested in the cosmetic effect, namely the effect on the hair.

Although only 10% of the total oil can be obtained with this method, cold-pressed coconut oil (this method is more gentle than hot-pressing) is more expensive, but also more useful.

Unique properties of coconut oil

Coconut oil is for hair, if not ideal, then one of the best, because: it nourishes and moisturizes the hair, the oil penetrates into the hair structure and prevents shampoos and other products from washing the protein out of them, restores hair and prevents split ends.

100% natural coconut oil

I have coconut oil from NOW Foods at the moment, there were other companies, I did not notice much difference between them, except in the color and saturation of the smell.

Hair masks with coconut oilAt temperatures below 25 degrees, coconut oil is solid (milky white, so to speak), but as soon as you put it on your hand, it immediately melts and turns into a transparent liquid. When passing from one state to another, the oil does not lose its properties. The smell of the oil is pleasant, not harsh, I would even say delicate (reminiscent of the advertisement for "Bounty")

Natural hair oilOn the hand, it is noticeable how it immediately melts from body temperature, by the way, it is quickly absorbed by the skin and does not leave greasy marks on clothes (I really like to use it in the summer, my first assistant in caring for body skin).

Uses of coconut oil

Applying coconut oil for hair

I do not use coconut oil on my scalp, only for the length.

Moisturizing hair mask

  • 50% coconut oil;
  • 50% jojoba oil.

Mix the oils in a glass container and heat in a water bath. The mask is applied before washing the hair, somewhere for 2-3 hours, you can insulate it with plastic wrap or a shower cap, and put on a warm hat on top (it is better that no one is at home). I apply the mask to slightly damp hair, somewhere from the middle of the hair, paying special attention to the ends. I really like to combine coconut oil with jojoba, because if I only use coconut oil, it dries my porous hair a little. Although for some people only coconut oil is enough, everything is very individual, especially when it comes to hair. And there should be no styling products on the hair (foams, varnishes, gels).

After the mask, the hair is soft, shiny and with regular use, the hair splits and breaks less in length.
