Shea butter for hair. Perfect care for damaged hair

Shea butter, or as it is also called shea, is a natural, vegetable oil that is extracted from the seeds of the Shea tree (shea). The Shea tree is a powerful, evergreen tree that grows in Africa. The oil is very popular in cosmetology and hair care all over the world.

Shea butter for hairShea butter has powerful emollient, moisturizing, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and regenerating properties. Due to its properties, the oil is actively used in the treatment and prevention of many skin diseases.

Shea butter propertiesShea butter is very widely used in the cosmetology industry, it is added to creams for dry and dehydrated skin, balms, lotions, the oil well restores and retains moisture in the skin, protects against wrapping.

The oil perfectly replaces body lotion, especially in winter, when all the charm of dry skin of the body is manifested, I apply it all over the body and rub it well with massage movements, having done it three times a week, I noticed that my skin absorbs oil less and less every time ( there is a cumulative effect), the skin is soft, moisturized and there is no irritation after a shower. I also apply oil to my feet at night, and in the morning my heels are soft, tender and ready for the new tests of my shoes. I would also like to note that the oil copes well with dry hands.

And another option is how I use it: once a week I apply a drop of oil to the area around the eyes in the form of a mask, rub it between the ring fingers and apply it to the skin like any eye cream (after evening rituals in facial skin care). If after half an hour, the oil has not been absorbed, I remove the residues with a napkin. This mask does not fight age wrinkles, but it perfectly moisturizes dry skin around the eyes, after a summer vacation or in winter when the skin is drier.

Ways to use shea butter for hairAccording to its consistency, shea butter is hard (butter), grainy, but as soon as it is applied to the skin, it immediately melts from body temperature. The oil is quite dense and oily, creamy in color. The smell is nutty, barely perceptible.

Shea butter should be stored in a cool place away from light. This oil can be stored in its original packaging for up to two years.

Hair restoration with Shea butterI didn't really like Shea Butter for hair (although many girls say it works great). The first time I used it solo, just heated it in a water bath and applied it to the hair from the middle to the ends. The oil is very greasy, it is difficult to distribute through the hair and after washing the hair was somehow sticky and hung like icicles, I just could not wash it, even after washing it three times with shampoo. This oil is probably too heavy for my thin, porous hair. And I started mixing it with other oils and came up with a suitable formula for myself:

Nourishing Hair Mask with Shea Butter

We need:

  1. 40% Shea Butter;
  2. 40% Avocado or Olive oil;
  3. 20% Camellia oil;

The amount of oil should be taken depending on the length and thickness of the hair (I take about one teaspoon of Shea butter, Avocado, and half a teaspoon of the unique Camellia oil). After mixing all the oils in a glass (or ceramic) dish, heat in a water bath and apply to slightly damp hair from the middle of the hair to the ends. We insulate and hold for 1-2 hours, you can leave it overnight and thoroughly wash your hair with shampoo. And on the roots, an hour before washing, I applymask with tincture of red pepper to stimulate hair growth.

After the mask, the hair is moisturized and nourished, and a good shine is also noticeable, more than usual (I think this is the merit of all the oils together), but the hair gets greasy faster.

Benefits of Shea Butter with Regular Use:

  • instantly removes dry skin;
  • softens rough skin (elbows, knees, heels);
  • protects against wrapping and ultraviolet radiation;
  • has therapeutic and prophylactic properties for skin diseases;
  • restores hair after chemistry and dyeing;
  • prevents split ends;
  • moisturizes and softens hair;
  • restores the natural shine and elasticity of curls.

Summing up, I can say that Shea butter is universal in the field of cosmetology, if it is not suitable for hair, you can find another use for it.

    Good oil, I also use it for hair, it works great for my bleached hair

      Yes, it is more suitable for severely damaged hair, including bleached, because it is too heavy for normal hair.
