Burdock oil for hair. Is it as good as they say it?

Burdock oil is probably the most popular hair oil. It is obtained from burdock root, but only by oil extraction: burdock roots insist on some kind of base oil, for example: olive, sesame, almond, linseed, sunflower. These are quite expensive oils, so burdock oil cannot be cheap, unless it is insisted on mineral oil, then it will be much cheaper, but there will be no benefit from such oil for hair. I noticed that most often manufacturers insist on burdock roots on soybean oil, it is one of the cheapest, although it is rich in micro and macro elements, as well as a high content of vitamin E. But all this is contained in unrefined soybean oil and cold pressed, and to be honest I doubt that manufacturers use quality soybean oil (or some other) in all of their products.

Burdock oil for hairI have burdock oil with paprika, because I took it to prevent hair loss and strengthen the roots.

When can you use red pepper burdock oil:

  • with hair loss;
  • to stimulate hair growth;
  • to strengthen weak and depleted hair.

Burdock oil with red pepper

Burdock oil for hair lossWhen did I start hair loss, I immediately started looking for information on the Internet, after reading all sorts of reviews, I decided to bet on natural care and treatment for hair loss. Especially considering that now everything is natural, organic, without harmful substances and other chemicals in fashion. Natural oils (base and essential) were primarily suitable for such criteria, and of course the most popular of them is burdock oil (which I took on). Among other things: shine, softness of restoration, the most important thing in his description was the prevention of hair loss.

At first I used it in its pure form, just warmed it up in a water bath and applied it to the scalp and at the same time did a light massage, sometimes leaving it for an hour, and sometimes for the whole night. It was rather difficult to wash off the oil from my thin, oily hair, it was necessary to use aggressive shampoos, and I did not feel the cleanliness of my hair.

Then I decided to dilute the burdock oil with other oils. I took 1 spoonful of burdock oil, added it to linseed or olive oil (1 spoon), a few drops of vitamin A and E in oil, plus a few drops essential oil (mint, bay, rosemary), that's how I discovered and fell in love with essential oils. In this ratio, it was much easier to wash off and I liked the effect more, but with the main problem, it did not help me to cope, the hair continued to fall out (apart from external agents, I still took vitamins). I also added burdock oil to the mask with honey, cognac and yolk, I did not notice any particular effect, as for me, there is nothing at all about it, although we are all different ...

This went on for more than two months, and I decided not to self-medicate anymore and turn to a specialist, that is, a doctor. At the reception, the trichologist, first of all, forbade me to use burdock oil. Why? First of all, it clogs the pores on the scalp (I saw this with my own eyes under a microscope), even if burdock oil suits you, do not forget to thoroughly clean your scalp and not with shampoos, but with scrubs or special gels. Since I have an oily scalp, I was advised to do salt peeling of the scalp, at home (every two weeks). My burdock oil was infused with sunflower oil (which is in the photo), and the previous one was with mineral oil, which further exacerbated my problem.

Secondly, if your hair is weakened, then clogged pores drain the hair even more, the scalp does not breathe, so it is better not to use burdock oil, as it leads to even more intense hair loss. If hair loss is really intense, more than a hundred hairs per day and for a long time, you need to look for the cause of hair loss inside the body and eliminate the cause as soon as possible.

And thirdly, I discovered many other oils, much better than burdock, if on the scalp, then these are: sea buckthorn, olive, mustard, argan, linseed, and at length: coconut, cocoa, jojoba, argan, avocado, and recently discovered simply amazing oils, which for some reason are not at all popular in our area, this camellia oil and broccoli oil.

I have not tried burdock oil for the length of the hair, perhaps in the care of the length, it would have recommended itself better than on the scalp.

When buying any natural hair oils, you should definitely choose unrefined and cold-pressed, and also remember to thoroughly cleanse your scalp and take breaks from using oils.

In conclusion, I want to say that not all burdock oil is really burdock oil, you need to look at the composition, because you apply it to the hair roots and scalp, which is where the health of our hair begins.
