Home care for porous fluffy hair. How to make porous hair smooth

Porous hair is always accompanied by dryness and brittleness, therefore, in caring for such hair, you need to act in several directions at once. First of all, moisturize, but do not forget about recovery and nutrition. And most importantly, do all this regularly, on an ongoing basis.

Porous hair is a hair structure that can absorb any preparations like a sponge and then immediately give them away after washing. Porous hair absorbs dust and dirt the most.

There are two reasons for porous hair:

  1. Heredity. Even in the womb, the structure of our hair and its density are laid. And if the hair is curly (curly), then porosity will be their obligatory companion.
  2. Improper hair care. Sometimes we ourselves are to blame for the fact that the hair becomes dry and porous, we often use styling products, stylers (hairdryer, iron, curling iron), we choose the wrong daily care (shampoo, mask), do not protect them, and so on, the list goes on. for a long time. But, it is better to start doing something.

A few facts about porous hair:

# Porous hair is dull and lifeless; it does not have the rich color and shine like healthy hair. Porous hair is dry and brittle in length, so it needs gentle care.

# Porous hair is difficult to dye evenly along the entire length with the same color intensity, and moreover, the dye is washed off much faster from porous hair.

# The scales of porous hair are ajar because of which they absorb all odors, substances and even dust, all this negatively affects the condition of the hair. In healthy hair, the cuticle scales are tightly pressed against each other and the hair is protected from the external environment.

# Porous hair is difficult to style, it is afraid of moisture, wind, temperature changes.

Cleansing porous hair

Caring for porous hair, like any other, begins with cleansing, and not just cleansing in the form of shampoo, but also deeper cleansing in the form of scrubs and peels. Scalp peeling helps to thoroughly cleanse the skin of dead skin cells, sebum, styling products, silicones and other impurities that shampoo cannot cope with.
You can buy a scrub ready-made in a store or make a natural one with your own hands.

Good store-bought scrubs and peels

  • Lebel Cool Orange Scalp Conditioner (oily / dry scalp cleanser)
  • Natura Siberica (sea buckthorn scalp scrub)
  • Farmavita Phytopeeling (scalp scrub)
  • Kaaral Purify Scrub
  • Carita Revitalizing scrub for the scalp
  • Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure Hair & Scalp Pre-Shampoo Peeling

Homemade scrub recipe

The scrub is mixed before being applied to the scalp.

  • 2 tablespoons of sea salt (fine or medium grinding);
  • 3-5 drops of essential oil, depending on the type of skin;
  • 1 tablespoon herbal decoction (chamomile, nettle, calamus oak bark) or base oil (olive, avocado, mustard, hemp, almond).

Any peeling is done on dirty hair before washing the head, on damp skin, you first need to wet the scalp well, under a warm shower for several minutes. The scrub is applied to the scalp along the parting and a massage is done, the length of the hair is not affected. We do the massage for about five minutes and for another five minutes we leave the mixture on the hair, and then wash my head as usual, with the help of shampoo and a mask.
Scalp exfoliation should be done every two weeks. After peeling, the scalp breathes, in the literal sense of the word. And most importantly, after peeling, all the nutrients that you apply to the scalp will work many times better (masks, serums, tonics). In addition, peeling improves blood circulation in the scalp and all nutrients in the blood better penetrate the hair follicles, which promotes hair growth.

Shampoo for porous hair

Shampoo is also part of the hair cleansing system and we use it every time I wash my head, so you need to be conscious of choosing it.

The main principle the choice of shampoo is that it is selected based on the condition of the scalp, not the hair. And yes, its the main task - cleansing the hair and scalp from dirt. But, shampoo and shampoo are different, even if its main task is only cleansing, and I think that each of you will agree with me. For porous hair, it is also important that the shampoo leaves the hair soft and smooth. Good professional shampoos contain moisturizing and conditioning ingredients that make hair more manageable, reduce frizz, and soften. The country of origin of the product is also an important indicator of the quality of the shampoo. Most of all I trust hair products that are produced in Japan, USA, Italy, Korea and Germany, and also in France (the combination of "price-quality" does not always correspond).

Ideally, you have several shampoos to alternate in your skincare routine. One kind of neutral shampoo or for sensitive scalp, one more gentle, for the length of the hair (so as not to dry out) and one for a more thorough cleansing (deep cleansing shampoo), which you will use every two to three weeks. With this scheme, your hair will not get used to any particular shampoo and you will see the result on your hair.

If you want to take more care of hair length, choose a shampoo marked for dry, weakened, damaged, brittle hair, although today you can find a shampoo specifically for porous hair:

  • Daeng Gi Meo Ri Oriental Black Shampoo (shampoo for dry damaged hair)
  • Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Ultra Aloe Shampoo (shampoo for dry hair)
  • Estel Professional Curex Therapy Shampoo (shampoo for dry, weakened and damaged hair)
  • Brelil Bio Traitement Cristalli d'Argan Shampoo Intensive Beauty (moisturizing shampoo with Argan and Aloe oil)
  • CHI Deep Brilliance Hydration Moisture Binding Shampoo
  • L'Oreal Professionnel Intense Repair Shampoo (shampoo for dry hair)
  • IAU Serum by Lebel (moisturizing shampoo for dry, unruly and porous hair)

And please do not play with natural home-made shampoos, for example, shampoo made from yolks, bread, clay and other products from the refrigerator, as practice shows, you will ruin your hair even more and still return to professional products. Moreover, the modern beauty industry creates special professional products designed specifically for your hair type. If you yourself cannot find the right products, then contact your hairdresser, he knows your hair, their problems and needs better.

How to choose a shampoo based on the type of hair, what shampoos are made of and important tips on how to use shampoo correctly, you can read in the article: How to choose a hair shampoo

You should comb your hair well before washing, this will help remove dirt and dead skin cells from the scalp, and will also make it easier to comb after washing.

Limit the use of hair dryers, straighteners, curling irons, and other stylers, all of which dry out and drain your hair.

Moisturizing, nourishing and restoring porous hair

Choose products that contain oils, vitamins, herbs, extracts from plants, keratin, and porous hair without silicones.

Choose conditioners that are nourishing and moisturizing, they are not intended to heal hair, their main task is to smooth the hair cuticle. Conditioners may be present in your care, but the bets still need to be placed on masks. Masks, moreover professional, will become indispensable in the care of fluffy porous hair. Repairing, nourishing, moisturizing - all these series are suitable for porous hair.

I also recommend having in your arsenal a "strong" (in action) professional mask, so to speak, heavy artillery, which you will use rarely and accurately, for example, after a deep cleansing shampoo, so its effect will be even better.

Porous hair is still usually thin, so try not to overdo it with a grooming product.

Porous hair quickly loses moisture, so it is very important to use indelible products in your care: oil, cream, fluid, essence, spray.

And of course, do not forget about protecting your hair, always use thermal protectionwhen you dry your hair with a hairdryer, and even more so when you use an iron or curling iron. In summer, protect your hair from the sun, wind and salt water, and in winter, be sure to wear a hat to protect your hair from cold and temperature extremes.

Oils for porous hair

Many girls sing odes to natural oils, especially in the care of dry, fluffy, porous hair, and this is not surprising, because they have a whole storehouse of useful substances. Each natural oil contains a complex chemical composition, each oil has a number of vitamins, trace elements, amino acids, fatty acids, as well as the naturalness of these oils and high quality.

Natural oils perfectly nourish and take care of hair, soften, make hair softer and smoother. And most importantly, natural oils restore hair, and even cosmetics manufacturers confirm this.

Most useful oils for fluffy, porous hair:

  • Avocado
  • Hemp
  • Olive
  • Linseed
  • Almond
  • Macadamia
  • Shea Butter
  • Cacao butter
  • Coconut oil

These oils will not only moisturize the length of the hair, but will also help prevent splitting and breakage, and also reduce hair porosity.

When buying oils, be sure to choose unrefined and cold-pressed oils, otherwise there will be no sense from them.

You can apply all these oils to the length of the hair in their pure form by heating them in a water bath. For the oil to work, it must be insulated and left on the hair for at least 1-2 hours. Many girls have gotten used to leaving the oil on all night, braiding their hair in a pigtail (but remember to wear an old pillowcase, because the oil leaves marks).

Homemade oil-based masks for porous hair

If you have porous hair, you will definitely make friends with oil masks. Masks based on natural oils are able to heal hair from the inside, making it healthier, softer, smoother and more manageable.

Homemade masks should be done in a course (10-15 procedures), once a week. The courses can be repeated, but be sure to take a break (1-2 months).
