Hair lamination at home

What is hair lamination - This is a professional procedure, the essence of which is to cover each hair with a colorless or colored compound. As a result, a film forms on the hair, which protects the hair from damage for a while.

Lamination of hair

Homemade gelatin lamination is a great alternative to the professional salon lamination procedure.

The main component of home lamination is gelatin, what is the use of gelatin for hair: gelatin contains a huge amount of collagen protein and B vitamins, thanks to these main components, gelatin strengthens weak hair, gives shine and volume. If you regularly eat dishes using gelatin (jelly, aspic), then you will forget about weak, brittle and dull hair. Today we will still talk about the external use of gelatin, that is, about home lamination.

Home lamination is suitable for those who have damaged hair, split ends, hair that breaks in length, has lost its natural shine and become dry. The more damaged the hair, the better the effect of this procedure will be. Gelatin covers each of your hairs with a protective film, so hair looks thicker, while gelatin still moisturizes and nourishes the hair well.

Two-step hair lamination

STEP 1. It is done on dirty hair before washing the hair.

For the first stage, we need (if you have thick or long hair, the proportions can be increased):

  • half a package of gelatin;
  • 1-3 tablespoons of water;
  • natural, organic or baby shampoo.

Step 1. We boil water, let it cool slightly. Pour the gelatin into a glass container and fill it with water, but not hot. Stir well so that there are no lumps. If lumps do not disappear in the gelatin, you can put the container in a water bath and stir well until smooth. We leave the gelatin so that it swells for 5-7 minutes, no more, otherwise it will thicken and there is nothing you can do with it.

Step 2. Add the same amount of shampoo to the resulting mixture and stir well. It is important that the ratio of gelatin to shampoo is 1: 1. Now we apply all this evenly to unwashed hair, stepping back from the hair roots by a few centimeters. We put on a shower cap and wrap it with a warm towel. We keep it on the hair for 40 minutes.

Step 3. After the time has passed, we go to wash our hair, but we no longer use shampoo, and with my hair, it is quite enough. First, we wet the hair a little and lather, while the water should be warm, but not hot, and then it is very important to rinse thoroughly with water.

After washing, we do not use any balm or mask, we simply wrap the hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. And we proceed to the second stage.

STEP 2. Apply to clean, damp hair.

For the second stage, we need (if you have thick or long hair, the proportions can be increased):

  • half a package of gelatin;
  • 1-3 tablespoons of water;
  • balm or conditioner;
  • 1 teaspoon of avocado or almond oil, or wheat germ oil.

Step 1. We do with gelatin, as in the first stage: pour the gelatin into a glass container and fill it with boiled water, but not hot, stir well so that there are no lumps and let it brew for a few minutes.

Step 2. In a container with gelatin, we add the same amount of conditioner or balm, it is very important that the balm is not less than gelatin, so that the opposite effect does not occur and the hair does not become brittle. Add oil and stir thoroughly. Apply the resulting mixture to wet hair, stepping back from the hair roots, it is important that each hair is covered with this mixture, especially the ends. Put on the shower cap again and wrap it with a warm towel. We keep on hair from 40 minutes to 2 hours.

Step 3. After the lapse of time, we wash off everything thoroughly with running, warm water, it is very important to rinse the hair well.Gelatin will wash off the hair without difficulty, thanks to the balm, it is also unnecessary, after washing, use a balm or mask, it is enough to let the hair dry naturally.

How often to lamination your hair: gelatin lamination of hair can be done at least once a week for a month if the hair is very damaged, and if the hair is of normal type, it is enough to do it once a month. You will see the result immediately after the first application, and then the effect will only intensify.

Home lamination effect

  • visible effect after the first application;
  • hair looks outwardly healthy and well-groomed;
  • does not weigh down or grease the hair;
  • the ends of the hair are nourished and do not stick out in different directions;
  • gives natural shine to hair;
  • gelatin nourishes and moisturizes hair;
  • hair is flowing and silky.

The only drawback of such a procedure is that it is not long-term, that is, the effect does not last long.

If you do not have time, you can do only stage one or only stage two (many girls do this), but still the result will be better in the complex.

  1. Kate

    I usually use only the second stage already on washed hair.

    • Yuliya

      Yes, it takes much less time, but do not overdo it with gelatin, so as not to get the opposite effect.

    I alternate, one month I do the lamination according to your prescription, and the next month only with a hair mask. Recipe: 1st tbsp. l. gelatin / 3 tbsp. l. water, and bring to a homogeneous mass in a water bath. Then 1 yolk and 2.5 tbsp. l. masks or hair balm. Apply to dry hair, without getting on the roots, grease the ends of the hair well and wrap it up. 1 hour will be enough! Especially in summer and winter, hair needs to do such masks, hair is very damaged from frost and hot sun. Lamination strengthens, nourishes and protects hair.

      Thanks for sharing your recipe. Adding yolk to this mask is an interesting solution.
      And I absolutely agree with you that lamination protects hair both in winter and in summer.
