Features of thin hair care

Nature is so laid down that even in the womb, the structure of our hair is formed in us and it is a pity that not all of them are thick, lush and strong. All my life my hair was thin, sparse, weak and naughty, so I lived with it until I entered the university, where I met an amazing girl who discovered completely different rules for hair care for me. Previously, for me, hair care consisted of shampoo, balm and sometimes a hair mask, as my companions were a hairdryer and an iron. So I am sharing what helped me make my hair healthier, more well-groomed and beautiful. Of course, they did not change the structure and did not become as thick as in Latin American women, but the appearance and quality of the hair improved several times.

Any manipulations with thin hair (iron, hairdryer, dyeing, sun) further aggravate the situation, they are further depleted, break down and, as a result, become even thinner.

Where do you start? Perhaps from the very beginning.

Thin hair care

With thin hair, the main rule is: the less the better, in all aspects of grooming, in order to maintain lightness and not overload.

  1. If possible, I try to season salads with linseed oil, sometimes I add it to cottage cheese. The benefits of flaxseed oil for hair are invaluable. Sometimes I buy pumpkin seed oil and also add it to salads and cereals.
  2. Twice a year (early spring and early autumn) I drink complex vitamins for hair. They must contain: iron, zinc, biotin (vitamin B5), calcium. But before taking vitamins, I first cleanse the body of toxins. In principle, I always try to eat right and drink plenty of water.
  3. Shampoos. I have tried many shampoos, and I can say one thing, for thin hair it is better to choose shampoos without silicones, they make the hair heavier and they lose their fresh look faster. By the way, my master confirmed my words, so I settled on series for thin hair, strengthening series, against hair loss, for volume, on various herbs, in such shampoos, as a rule, there are no silicones. I change shampoos all the time, even if I really liked the shampoo, I still buy it a second time no earlier than half a year later, so the effect is better visible on the hair and there is no addiction to the shampoo. I apply the shampoo only to the roots of the hair, and when I wash off the shampoo, it flows down the hair and rinses it out. Always rinse the shampoo thoroughly from the hair.
  4. I began to wash my hair only with lukewarm water, although earlier I thought that hot water washes away dirt and styling products from the hair better, but this is not at all the case. Hot water stimulates the sebaceous glands even more and the hair becomes oily faster.
  5. I try to rinse my hair every time after washing decoction of herbs, very different, but most of all I love nettle, while the nettle that I myself collected and dried acts on the hair many times better than from the pharmacy. Herbs improve the general condition of the hair, but the result will be visible after three months of regular use. After washing, I wrap my hair with a towel for a few minutes, and then let it dry naturally.
  6. Once a month I use a scrub for deep cleansing of the scalp. In the modern world, it is simply an irreplaceable thing, after which the scalp breathes in the literal sense of the word. Today, many brands of manufacturers offer scalp scrubs.
  7. I replaced all the balms and hair conditioners with masks, the lighter (moisturizing series) I apply for 2-3 minutes instead of the balm, and the more saturated (regenerating, nourishing series) I apply once a week. I apply a professional mask on hair slightly dried with a towel, wrap it with a film, put on a hat and warm it up with a hairdryer for 5-8 minutes and then hold it for another 10 minutes until it cools. Hair after the mask looks like after a salon.
  8. I always apply oil or cream to the ends of the hair, for thin and sparse hair, a cream is more suitable, it is lighter than oil, although I like oil or fluid more.
  9. Twice a year during seasonal hair loss, I buy ampoules for strengthening and against hair loss, one package is enough for me for one course (2-3 times a week), along with taking vitamins, I minimized seasonal hair loss.
  10. I threw out all the combs and left only the Tangle Teezer, I use the original at home, and I carry the compact one everywhere with me. During traffic jams, I sit in the car and massage my scalp with a comb. The comb plays one of the main roles in hair care, always use high-quality and clean combs (I wash the comb once a week with shampoo). At night, I braid a pigtail, so the hair does not get tangled and is less damaged.
  11. I completely gave up ironing, but I cannot completely give up a hair dryer, although I try to dry more often without a hair dryer. If I dry my hair with a hairdryer. then I definitely use thermal protection and only professional, usually I dry with a diffuser and at a low speed and temperature. If I dry my hair naturally, then I just let it dry by 70%, apply indelible oil, comb and twist it into a bun for 10-15 minutes, this gives me root volume and lightens the styling.
  12. Another important point, be sure to protect your hair from cold and sun. In winter, I started hiding my hair under a hat or jacket so that not a single strand would remain in the cold, and in summer, if I go to the beach, I apply sunscreen spray, and if I go swimming, I grease all my hair with coconut oil and wrap it in a bun.
  13. Somewhere once a week or once every two weeks I do a homemade hair mask before washing my hair. I really like the clay mask, it gives unrealistic volume to thin hair and it stays clean longer.

For the mask you need:

  • 1 tablespoon of clay (blue, white, pink, green);
  • 1/2 tablespoon of water (boiled), or mineral water, or a decoction of herbs;
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 spoon of olive oil;
  • 3-5 drops of essential oil of mint, orange, lemon.

The mask is done before washing your hair. Dilute the clay with water to the consistency of sour cream (you can use a decoction of some herb, depending on the problem at hand), add the rest of the ingredients. Apply the mask to the hair roots and insulate, for about 20-30 minutes. Then wash your hair as usual, but using a mask or balm for hair length, otherwise the hair will be coarse. It is enough to do this mask once a week.

I also sometimes make a mask with tincture of red capsicum: I mix two tablespoons of tincture with one spoonful of water and add essential oil, I like rosemary, lemon or orange most of all; I apply the mask only on the scalp, warm it up, hold it for about an hour and wash my head as usual.

I think everyone knows these principles of caring for thin hair, but the main thing is to adhere to them regularly and systematically and you will see how your hair will transform.
