How to use salt for hair loss?

Even our ancestors believed rubbing salt into the scalp the most effective remedy for hair loss. And so, the easiest way to use sea salt for hair loss is to rub it into the scalp, for this you need to mix the salt with water to get a thick gruel and rub this mixture into the scalp before washing.

Modern girls went further, began to add other more useful ingredients (than water) to salt, and they called this procedure scalp peeling, we will dwell on this in more detail.

Scalp peeling or scalp scrub is needed primarily in order to cleanse the scalp, and not like shampoo - to wash away dirt and styling products, but deeper cleansing - cleansing the scalp from dead cells, sebum, silicone (which is very often added to shampoos, especially for damaged hair).

Let's take a look at the recipes for a salt peel for the scalp. Most often, salt is diluted with water, herbal decoction or base oil, depending on the type of hair.

Peeling for oily or normal scalp

When making exfoliation for oily scalp, salt is best mixed with a decoction of nettle or oak bark, they absorb sebum well and the hair stays clean longer. When making a scrub, first take the right amount of salt and drop a few drops of essential oil on it, depending on the type of hair and what problem you want to cope with. How to choose the right essential oil for hair (from hair loss, to stimulate growth, from dandruff, excessive fat content), you can read in this article.

  • 2 tablespoons of medium-ground sea salt;
  • 1 tablespoon water or decoction of herbs;
  • 3-5 drops of bay or rosemary essential oil, cinnamon.

Peeling for dry or sensitive scalp

If you have a dry scalp, it is best to add a natural base oil to the salt. Oils that are suitable for the scalp: olive, mustard, pumpkin seeds, almond, wheat germ, avocado. If the scalp is sensitive, then salt peeling should be done no more than once a month and with fine salt.

  • 2 tablespoons of sea salt;
  • 1 tablespoon of base oil
  • 3-5 drops of essential oil.

General recommendations: salt peeling is done before shampooing. First, moisten the hair and scalp with warm water, 2-3 minutes, to open the pores. Then, along the partings, we begin to apply salt and massage in circular motions, while we do not touch the hair, only the scalp. The salt will crumble, this is normal, but even what remains will be enough for this procedure.

Massage the scalp for 5 minutes and leave the scrub on the scalp for another 5 minutes. Then I wash my head as usual. If you still rub in some ampoules or spray for the scalp, then after peeling their effect will be much better.

If the scalp is normal or prone to oily, salt peeling can be done once every two weeks, if it is very oily, then it can be done once a week, but not all the time. And if the skin is dry, then once a month. It is not recommended to constantly do salt peeling, try to take breaks for about a month.

After the first, second procedure, you may notice that the hair has fallen out even more, this is the hair that is already in the telogen stage.
